Nominations Being Accepted for Election To Medical Review Board & Board of Directors

Nominations are now being accepted for positions on leadership committees of The Renal Network/ESRD Network 10.

Positions are open on:

  • Board of Directors: 3 At-Large Members
  • Medical Review Board: 1 Nephrologist

Those interested in serving the Network on one of these volunteer positions can nominate themselves. The nominations will be voted in the Network’s general election in November.

DEADLINE: Nominations must be submitted by Friday, September 28, 2018.

Here are the details for each committee:

Board of Directors

The Renal Network Board of Directors is responsible to CMS for the management of ESRD Network 10. The Board sets overall policy and direction for the Network and retains oversight responsibility. The Board is comprised of volunteer members of the nephrology community within the state of Illinois.

Board Member Responsibilities:

  • Reviews budget items and financial matters for the Network
  • Ensures the Network 10 contract with CMS is maintained
  • Approves of activities proposed by the Medical Review Board (MRB) and Patient Advisory Committee (PAC) Have the ability to attend and participate in the majority of the meetings held (1 in-person/2-3 webinars per year)
  • Participate in orientation program that addresses ethics compliance with CMS goals, cultural competence, healthcare disparities, and other relevant topics.
  • Have the ability to attend and participate in the meetings held (1 in-person/2-3 webinars per year)
  • Participation in orientation program that addresses ethics compliance with CMS goals, cultural competence, healthcare disparities, and other relevant topics.

Requirements: Candidates for elected positions on the Board of Directors must:

  • Have the appropriate credentials in the discipline they are representing
  • Be experienced in dialysis and/or renal transplantation
  • Be a stakeholder from the Network service area (NW10 = Illinois)
  • Have prior Network experience on the Medical Review Board or an appointed Network committee
  • Have email and Web access

Board of Director Meeting Responsibilities:

  • One in-person meeting per year(travel and overnight lodging are reimbursed)
  • 2 – 3 webinar meetings throughout the year. The webinar meetings are usually 90 minutes long.

Term of Office:

Begins January 1, 2019

Medical Review Board

Description: The Medical Review Board serves as the primary advisory panel for all Network quality improvement activities, including:

  • Serving as an advisory panel to the Network on the care and appropriate placement of ESRD Patients on dialysis in the Network service area
  • Serving an advisory panel for all Network Quality Improvement Activities (QIAs)
  • Assisting Network staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of all QIAs.
  • Working with the Network staff to recommend sanctions to CMS for dialysis facilities when the criteria for a sanction recommendation are met.

Requirements: Candidates for elected positions on the Medical Review Board must:

  • Have the appropriate credentials in the discipline they are representing
  • Be experienced in dialysis and/or renal transplantation
  • Be affiliated with a Medicare approved dialysis facility or transplant center which is a member of ESRD Network 10
  • Have email and Web access

MRB Meeting Responsibilities:

  • One in-person meeting per year (travel and overnight lodging are reimbursed)
  • 2 – 3 webinar meetings throughout the year. The webinar meetings are usually 90 minutes long.
